Things have been a little crazy lately (more about that later), but I will try to get caught up now.
Three weeks ago, on Sunday, May 31, we had our annual graduation ceremonies at Belize Friends School. Interestingly enough, the morning began at 6:30am with a couple of our students participating in the Olympic day race in Belize City. Brandon placed 1st in his division and Michael placed 4th in his division.
Michael is #208 on the far right of the start line.
Following the race I went back to my apartment, got cleaned up and went to church. Shortly after lunch it was time to take Ms Candi to school to make final preparations for the commencement ceremonies. The ceremonies began at 3:00.
Hanging out prior to the graduation ceremony:
Shamar 2 and Mario lookin’ good.
I couldn’t get Kylah to smile for anything.
Students and parents began to gather at 2:30 and the ceremony began at 3:00.
Ms Darcel acted as Master of Ceremonies
Kevaugn gave the welcome.
Mario had the opening prayer. Note that Jevon’s little brother is ready to take photos with a phone.
Mr Steven White, who is now a primary school vice principal, was a member of our very first class of students. He was the invited speaker and did very well.
Ms Candi appointed me to hand out the awards and certificates.
Ms Candi’s principal’s report highlighted the events of the year.
The back two rows of attenders. There were 4 row so this photo shows about half of the audience.
The lady from Youth Enhancement Services handed out certificates for completion of the skills class that she had taught once a week for the past several weeks.
Shamar 2 and his mother completed the paperwork necessary to receive one of our scholarships for next year.
And here they are, the graduates of the class of 2015.
From left to right: Ms Darcel, Shamar 1, Elroy, Michael, Kylah, Tyrese, Kevaugh, Jevon, Mario, Shamar 2, Ms Candi. Congratulations one and all!
